Choose My Plate, which is published by the USDA, recommends that teens should drink three cups of milk each day. The recommended amount is the same for boys and girls. Teens are encouraged to drink milk that is fat-free or low-fat rather than whole or 2 percent milk.
Choose My Plate also suggests other dairy products that can be substituted for the three daily servings of milk. Substitute one cup of low-fat yogurt or calcium-fortified soy milk for a cup of milk. A 1 1/2-ounce serving of natural cheese or 2 ounces of processed cheese also equals a serving of dairy products.
