"CDA" stands for Child Development Association. CDA certification is a national credential offered by National Early Childhood Program Accreditation. State requirements vary for childcare workers, but this national CDA certification is portable across state lines and offers increased employment options.
To become a candidate for CDA certification, one must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma. Early childhood education and experience and successful completion of a certification exam are also required to earn a CDA. Even in states where CDA certification is not required to work in a childcare setting, the training involved may meet state-mandated training for workers.
