There are various software programs, websites and mobile applications available for creating a family tree with genealogy, free examples of which include Gramps and Family Echo. Others, such as Legacy Family Tree, Ancestry and TreeView are available for a subscription fee, as of 2015.
FamilyEcho.com offers an easy-to-use family tree creation interface. Once users create an account on the website, they can start filling in information about their family members. Each member added to the tree automatically appears in either a horizontal or vertical branch, depending on the relation of that person to the person creating the tree. Information on family members that can be stored on the family tree include their names, dates of birth, dates of death, photographs and genders. The site can also store the individuals' contact details, including their emails, addresses, websites and phone numbers, as well as their birth places and professions.
Family Echo users can create, store, print, share via email or URL, and download or export their family trees in various formats, including dynamic HTML, CSV, GEDCOM and PDF. They can also invite family members to share information about their own families. The interface additionally has a function that allows users to locate particular family members on the tree by their names.
