Some active play activities for children are dance, gymnastics, swimming, skating and free play. Free play can be any activity that makes the children move a lot or run, such as playing on the playground. Active play for babies can include reaching out for objects, rolling over and balancing when sitting up, according to the Australian Government Department of Health and Aging.
Pediatric experts recommend that young children of toddler age shouldn't be inactive for longer than one hour at a time when not sleeping, Ryan reports.
