XtraMath offers features such as progress reports, short sessions and immediate feedback. The program is designed to help students master basic math facts to increase fluency in math.
XtraMath offers practice in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The goal of the program is to have students recalling the answers to math facts in three seconds or less. Progress reports allow parents and teachers to see how well a child is mastering the basic math facts. Mastery scores show student progress while a graph reveals progress over time. A color-coded grid allows parents and teachers to see what facts are mastered and which need work.
Short sessions are one of the largest benefits of Xtramath. Each session takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. This allows a child to have plenty of practice without causing him to become frustrated or fatigued with long lessons. These short sessions allow the program to be easily implemented after school, in the classroom, or in a home school.
Students are provided with immediate feedback as they work through the activities. Answers provided within the three second time frame earn smiley faces while those provided within ten seconds earn check marks. A wrong answer is immediately corrected, and the student must type the answer to move on. Students are able to see their progress to stay motivated.
