Writing workshops for middle school students are available through Time4Writing.com, 826 National and Gotham Writers. Writing workshops for middle school students are offered online, at colleges and universities, by local community writing organizations and as part of summer school program curricula.
Time4Writing.com offers online courses, which last four to eight weeks. There are three levels: basic, intermediate and advanced. The site provides writing examples to help parents determine the appropriate level for their children.
826 National is a nonprofit network for the promotion of youth creativity. It has chapters in seven metropolitan areas: San Francisco, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C. The on site programs are open to youth ages 6 to 18.
Gotham Writers offers writing classes in New York City and online. Courses in fiction and nonfiction writing are available for students who are 13 to 17 years old.
