Unlike a networking self introduction, which is only a few sentences long, a self-introduction essay should take 2 or 3 minutes to narrate. The writer must be able to express what he or she has to offer a potential employer in a way that makes the listener have no doubt as to that person's capabilities, as though he or she were answering questions in a job interview.
The writer should begin the essay by thinking about goals. Define both short-term and long-term goals, if applicable. Consider strengths and weaknesses as well, and make note of what he or she is already good at while pointing out what is yet to be learned.
The writer should include positive relevant information about who he or she is and has accomplished, including awards, internships, summer employment, and transferable skills. Transferable skills are ones that can be used in any job environment, such as managerial experience and problem solving.
Other information that should be included in a self-introduction essay include current academic and leisure interests, and information about what the applicant learned from any relevant volunteer work.Learn more about Academic Essays
