Write a proper letter by including the sender's address, the name and address of the person receiving the letter and the date. Write a salutation, the body of the letter and the ending. Finally, sign the bottom of the letter.
- Write the sender's address in the top corner
In the top, right-hand corner, write the sender's address. Do not include the sender's name in this section.
- Write the name and address of the person receiving the letter
After the sender's address, write the name and address of the person receiving the letter on the left-hand side of the page.
- Date the letter
On the left-hand side, just under the address, write the date.
- Write a salutation
On the left hand side, underneath the date, write a salutation. The salutation should include the person's title and last name, such as "Dear Mrs. Smith," or "Dear Dr. Brown." If the name of the person is not known, write "Dear Sir or Madam."
- Write the body of the letter
Create the body of the letter by stating the reason for the letter in a clear and concise manner. Add as much information as needed, while making paragraphs short and to the point.
- End the letter
End the letter with "Yours Sincerely." Underneath the ending phrase, sign the letter.
