When writing a letter for readmission to a college or university, address the letter to the director of admissions, type the letter in a professional format and list reasons why you should be readmitted into the college. Include information about why you left the institution, your academic status, your future educational goals and the efforts you intend to take to improve if placed on academic probation.
- Format the letter
Type a salutation to the admissions director, and format the document as a professional letter, complete with a return address, phone number, signature and your college identification number.
- Include justification for readmission
Provide reasons why you should be readmitted to the college. These reasons might include an improved academic record, initiatives to balance school work with work or personal obligations, and specific educational, degree and career goals for an educational future.
- Explain your reasons for leaving
Incorporate the reasons you left the institution as well. For example, if you experienced health issues and were forced to withdraw from classes, note the outcome of the health issues and explain that you are now able to attend and participate in classes. If the reasons for leaving were personal, indicate that all personal issues have now been resolved and that you are able to concentrate on your educational goals.
