Worldly Wise 3000 is a kindergarten through 12th grade reading program published by EPS Literacy and Intervention, a publishing company with a long history of providing materials intended to reach students that are both at and below grade level. Program goals include expanding grade level vocabulary and improving reading comprehension.
Worldly Wise 3000 provides books and take-home materials for students and resource packages and formal and informal assessment materials for teachers. Teachers can also administer the program as an online instructional tool on an individual basis.
Components of the program and objectives vary slightly by grade level. Kindergarten and first grade materials use oral instruction for vocabulary instruction. In grades two through five, written instruction is added, as well as direct instruction in reading comprehension. Additional strategies to tackle unknown words begin in middle school, as well as instruction in grade-specific vocabulary found on state and standardized tests. Additional testing strategies are added at the high school level.
