The French Pastry School at Kennedy-King College of City Colleges of Chicago claims to be the "premier international institution of pastry arts education." As of 2015, this school offers two basic courses of study each year, entitled the L'Art de la Patisserie and the L'Art du Gateau. The former is a 24-week full-time program leading to certification in pastry and baking, while the latter is a 16-week full-time undertaking for certification in the Professional Cake Baking and Decorating Program.
The Culinary Institute of America is widely known as one of the best baking schools in the country, and has been teaching the culinary arts longer than any other professional school. The CIA has locations in several different states, including California, New York and Texas. The post-graduation employment outlook for CIA students is generally very positive.
Johnson & Wales University is another well-known baking school, where each student receives his own pastry tool kit. The university offers the choice of earning an associate's or bachelor's degree in the field of baking and pastry arts.
