School closure information is typically posted on school and district websites shortly after administrators have decided to cancel classes. During inclement weather, local television and radio stations also provide information about school closures.
Most local news stations run a ticker at the bottom of the screen indicating which schools are closed. They may also provide this information on their websites. Information about delayed starts, early closures and alternate bus routes is usually posted in the same way. Many schools also send email notification alerts directly to parents and students. On days where there is a possibility for ice, snow or other severe weather, schools and districts may also provide information on their websites indicating a time frame for when they will announce whether or not they will close for the day.
