A letter of support for a visa may be handwritten using legible print or typed. Anyone submitting a letter of support for a visa application should keep in mind they may be agreeing to sponsor and be financially responsible for the visitor for the duration of the stay.
Begin by addressing the letter to the embassy of the visitor's home country. Explain the relationship between visitor and writer, and the reason for the visit. The letter must include the visitor's full legal name as well as his or her date of birth, address and phone number.
The writer should provide his or her own name, citizenship status and other identifying information as well as income and where the visitor will be staying. Finally, the writer's signature must be notarized and a copy of his or her birth certificate or passport enclosed before mailing the letter to the visitor's embassy.
