VOA Special English refers to a series of radio programs broadcast by Voice of America radio for non-native English speakers that used limited vocabulary words, shorter sentences and a slower pace than other VOA programming. The programs were designed to make it easier for foreign speaking listeners to learn English.
Voice of America now airs VOA Special English programs as Learning English broadcasts. The broadcasts air seven days per week for 30 minutes per broadcast, as of December 2015. Programs are available for speakers of Khmer, Lao, Mandarin, Turkish and Vietnamese.
