The Ventures ESL program is an English language learning program. Cambridge University Press creates these and other materials for English as a Second Language learning. The multilevel program offers a practical approach for adults to acquire English language skills suitable for a variety of situations.
The program is correlated to conform with state and federal standards. It features audio, online presentation, PDF, PowerPoint and video file formats. The program is flexible, offering six clearly defined lessons per unit. It is designed for use in open enrollment, managed enrollment or traditional programs. The program focuses on American English and formats include books, audio, mixed media and CD-ROM. Key features are online workbooks, grammar lessons, career and educational pathways and free online teacher support. The program provides for a variety of proficiency levels ranging from beginner to intermediate. Students' contain topic-based units. Cambridge University Press began publishing books for this program starting in 2007. The majority of the program was designed for self-study, but it includes some materials for use in classrooms and for reference. Each two-page lesson is suitable for an hour-long class. As of 2015, the program is in its second edition and contains over 1,000 resources to assist teachers in lesson planning and classroom management.
