To use the Accelerated Reader BookFinder, select the appropriate role from the options including Student, Parent, Teacher and Librarian; click Submit; type the title, author or topic of the book into the Quick Search box; and hit Go. Utilize the Advanced Search option to search using more identifying elements.
The Quick Search function is the default search tool for AR BookFinder. This search tool searches all titles, authors and keywords for the word or words a user enters into the search. Because this search tool returns the results of all three of these types of searches, it often isn't the most efficient option when searching for a specific text.
The Advanced Search feature allows for more targeted searching. With this search tool, users can search by title, author or ISBN. This tool also allows for search by interest level and Lexile range as well as topical searching. When using this search tool, users can select to receive results containing, starting with or exactly matching the entered information.
The AR BookFinder also allows for the entry of a keycode. While a keycode isn't a required element of the search process, it can be useful for students who use AR as part of their classroom instruction. By entering a keycode, the student, parent or teacher can access a list of books at the appropriate Lexile level for the keycode-holding student.
