The University of Phoenix is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It is currently on notice, meaning that the Commission has concerns that the university is headed in a direction, that if not reversed, could cause the university to lose its accreditation.
An institution placed on notice is still considered accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. While the institution is on notice, they can address the concerns from the commission and be removed from the notice period. Institutions that do not address these concerns could potentially be placed on probation or have other action taken against them by the Commission. The University of Phoenix has accreditation for several of their degree programs, including select programs in business, nursing, teacher education and counseling education.
