Located in Coral Gables, Florida, the University of Miami is a nonsectarian research university. The school’s motto of “magna est veritas” means “great is the truth."
Founded in 1925, the first class at the University of Miami had 560 students. Within five years, the university add the School of Law, School of Business Administration and School of Education. During the World War II, the University of Miami took part in the V-12 Navy College Training Program, which provided students an opportunity to enlist in the Navy. The school’s logo colors are white, orange and green, and its mascot is Sebastian the Ibis. The Miami Hurricanes football program won its first national championship in 1983, while the school’s baseball team won its first title in 1982.
