MyMathLab refers to specific courses offered on the CourseCompass web-based system for delivering higher education courses. Each course is adapted and taught by an instructor and related to a specific textbook, so topics vary by course. Certain features, however, are available across all courses.
Because MyMathLab courses are delivered online, students are able to practice and learn at their convenience in places and at paces that work for them. Exercises, along with tutorial assistance and immediate feedback, correlate to the textbook, which is also available online. CourseCompass provides direction to students based on their progress with various exercises regarding where to focus their study efforts. Instructors can then assign personalized study plans, homework and assignments to help the students prepare for upcoming tests.
Instructors adapt tests from sample chapter tests provided in each MyMathLab course or design their own tests for students to take within MyMathLab, which also grades the exams. Instructors also have the ability to customize each MyMathLab course and to combine in-classroom learning with the online learning available through CourseCompass. Students can communicate with other students and their instructors through CourseCompass discussion boards and virtual online classrooms. Instructors can also assign discussion groups, pose discussion questions and review students' online responses.
