The top community colleges in America are East San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program, New Mexico Military Institute, Victor Valley College, Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah, and North Central Kansas Technical College, according to CNN Money. Colleges with fewer than 200 full-time freshmen are not included in this list.
Based on how many students either transferred to four-year colleges or graduated within three years, College Measures created a list that ranks every community college in America, says CNN Money. Other measures included in this ranking are cost per student, first-year retention rates, attrition costs, salary to cost ratio, and student loan default rates, notes College Measures. The rankings in this list can be filtered according to public versus private, tuition costs, geographic location, and information pertaining to the amounts of federal loans and percentages of students receiving them.
Other top community colleges include Saint Paul College, Hesston College, Carolinas College of Health Sciences, Maryland Community College, and Itasca Community College, says CollegeAtlas.org. This list used other criteria, such as academic challenge, student effort, active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, and support for learning. Many community colleges offer training and curriculum equivalent to that offered at four-year institutions, and they are more accessible and cost less. Contemporary community colleges are more career oriented than universities and offer relevant skill sets that prepare students for the job market.
