Telemundo is a Spanish-language television channel owned by NBCUniversal and headquartered in Hialeah, Florida, a Miami suburb. It is broadcast in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Telemundo is the second largest Spanish channel in North America. Its programming, targeted toward Hispanic and Latino Americans, includes news, sports, soap operas, entertainment and reality television series. The majority of these shows are filmed in Miami. Univision, another Spanish-language channel, is its primary competitor. "Mundo" is Spanish for "world"; therefore, "Telemundo" translates as "world television." Telemundo was established in 1954 in Puerto Rico, and was launched in the United States in 1984.
