Technical writing is written communication regarding technical topics, such as electronics, robotics, chemistry and computers. This type of writing is done by technical writers, who are experts in producing technically accurate materials that are as clear and concise as possible.

In 2012, the average technical writer earned a median salary of $65,500 in the United States. New writers looking to enter the field should have a bachelor's degree and up to five years of writing experience or experience in a technical field. Often, technical writers choose to specialize in a specific field of technology, such as web design, software, biochemistry or finance.
