While there are no major news agencies that report only in Swahili, the Kenya News Agency provides news in Swahili as well as English. Large news agencies such as the BBC and Voice of America also have Swahili news services.
The Kenya News Agency was founded in 1963 and is owned by the Kenyan government. It reports both national news concerning all of Kenya and local news from each county. The Voice of America publishes both news articles and audio broadcasts on its Swahili website, voaswahili.com. Voice of Americap posts news broadcasts three times per day, and each broadcast is 30 minutes long. The BBC has two daily Swahili language broadcasts. The morning show lasts 30 minutes and is called "Amka na BBC," while the evening show lasts an hour and is called "Dira ya Dunia."
