Danielle’s Steel’s newest book is about two twin brothers who are bitter enemies, one good and one evil, who are reunited after being separated for 20 years. The book is called Prodigal Son, and it was released in 2015.
The two brothers, Peter and Michael McDowell, grew up in the same hometown. After losing his money, property and job as an investment banker, Peter is forced to head back home to the lakeside cottage left by his parents to his brother Michael. After a rough childhood together, and believing that his brother Michael pushed him away from his parents with his manipulation, Peter doesn’t know what to expect from the reunion with his brother. To his surprise, the reunion feels tender and real to him, until he uncovers a huge surprise and the truth about his brother. What Peter discovers changes both his and his brother's lives forever as well as affecting everyone in the entire town.
Prodigal Son is both powerful and poignant, with very complex and layered characters. The suspenseful story starts out sweet and emotional before exposing shattering revelations about good and evil through a battle of suspicion and betrayal, and a life-and-death struggle for survival between brothers.
