Students can take state-approved certified nursing assistant (STNA or CNA) classes online, if allowed by the regulations of the student's home state. Online courses cannot be used to satisfy the full requirements of the STNA program, as of 2015; they are only used to supplement a traditional campus-based program.
Legitimate online STNA classes are most commonly offered by accredited colleges and universities. While these programs allow some portions of the program to be taken online, they still require attendance at a physical location for the remainder of the program. The nature of the work of a STNA requires some concepts to be learned using hands-on training.
Any legitimate online STNA class is certified by the program's local board of nursing.
