ST Math is a software program of game-based, interactive, visual teaching tools to help children understand and use math concepts. ST stands for spatial-temporal, the brain's ability to keep visual cues in short-term memory and think several steps in advance. JiJi, an animated penguin, is the focus of the games.
Students solve math problems to help JiJi overcome obstacles. When the student succeeds, JiJi moves across the screen, showing that the student has mastered the math concept and leading the student to a more difficult puzzle. MIND Research Institute developed ST Math; as of 2015, 800,000 school-age children throughout the United States are using the program, also called JiJi Math.
