Some seventh grade science ideas are studying how stress affects the body, how font impacts memory of the written word and how to best form crystals from household objects. A student can explore the sensitivity of her dominant hand by immersing both hands in cold water and observing the results.
A student can discover how stress affects body temperature by gathering together some test subjects and taking preliminary measurements of their body temperature and stress levels. Once these results are recorded, the student places a challenging test, such as mathematics, in front of the subjects. After the subjects complete the test, the student takes their temperatures once again and records their stress levels. She then compares the post-test results to the pre-test measurements.
