What Are Some Scholarships Available to High School JROTC Air Force Students?

The U.S. Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps offers Type 1, Type 2 and Type 7 scholarships. Most scholarships cover four years and activate in the fall of the recipient's freshman year. Some Type 2 scholarships cover three years and begin in the fall of a student's sophomore year.

Type 1 scholarships pay a textbook allowance, most campus fees and full college tuition. As of July 2015, approximately 5 percent of four-year scholarships are Type 1. Type 2 scholarships cap tuition and fee payments at $18,000 per year, and recipients pay the difference. Type 7 scholarships cover tuition up to the equivalent of the in-state public school rate, and the scholarships include a book allowance.
