Some scholarships available for African-American students includes UNCF-MERCK Science Research Scholarships and Fellowships, ABA Diversity Scholarship, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Award and ACHE Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship. While the ACHE Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship is only open to graduate students, the other three scholarship options award undergraduate students.
UNCF-MERCK Science Research Scholarships and Fellowships assist African-American students interested in a career in science. The scholarship offers up to $35,000 annually and requires each student to attend two summer research internships and receive mentoring from Merck scientist.
The ABA Diversity Scholarship awards students interested in a career in the transportation, travel and tourism industries. The organization awards two scholarships a year, and each award gives each student $2,500. The student must have completed one year at college, declared a major in the transportation, travel and tourism industry and sustained a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
The ACHE Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarships feature a maximum award of $5,000 to 20 students who enter their final year of classroom studies in a health care management graduate degree program.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Award goes to undergraduate students studying in the field of criminal justice. Students must be a current attendee of a four-year university.
