According to Great Schools, as of 2015, ISchool High at the Woodlands, Vista Academy of Pasadena and Mcauliffe Elementary School are the highest-rated schools in Lewisville. Each of these schools scores nine out of 10 on the site's ratings system.
The Great Schools rating is based solely on standardized test scores and does not take other aspects of schools' success into account. This resource is used by many other comparison tools, so it is the main source of information about which are the best schools in the region. However, the city of Lewisville points out that several of its district's schools are nontraditional and promote accelerated learning, which may mean that standardized testing scores are less indicative of quality. It also recommends ISchool High, as well as the Winfree Academy Charter School in this category.
Most other local schools come under the Lewisville Independent School District, which claims Exemplary ratings for 38 schools with a further 20 recognized by the Texas Education Agency. As of 2014, however, none of the LISD's schools appeared on the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon list, and the Texas Tribune's school comparison tool notes only that the majority of schools in the district met required standards.
