As of 2014, the highest-ranked schools in the California State University system according to U.S. News & World Report are California Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly Pomona and the CSU campuses at Long Beach, Chico, San Jose and Fullerton. Twenty-three public universities make up the CSU network.
Known for its state-of-the-art laboratories, the highly ranked engineering programs are most popular among the nearly 70 undergraduate majors offered at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Featuring numerous fields of study among its eight colleges, Cal Poly Pomona is also nationally recognized for its engineering programs; about 1 in 14 engineers in the state of California are alumni. Business administration is the most common undergraduate program at CSU Long Beach, which is also strong in liberal arts and the sciences.
