Miami Lakes Educational Center divides its program between high school and adult vocational education. It is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system, and The Council of Occupational Education and the Council of Accreditation and School Improvement of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools provide the institution's accreditation.
The adult division of the Miami Lakes Educational Center provides job training and skills for adults. Departments include Adult General Education, Health Science Education and Industrial Education. One feature of the Adult General Education program is a course designed to help adults acquire a GED. Courses include training in automotive collision repair and refinishing, commercial foods and culinary arts, computer systems and information technology, medium & heavy duty truck & bus tech and practical nursing.
Miami Lakes Educational Center's high school program works to ensure that students meet established standards of achievement. Though the center's website provides a separate page for the high school, it is closely related to the center's adult training program. The center advertises itself as Miami-Dade County's only dual-delivery school. A student can take both high school and vocational training classes at the same time, and can graduate from the center with both a traditional high school diploma and a certificate of completion for the vocational training program of his choice.
