Find practice ASVAB tests online or in available workbooks at the library or a bookstore. Another option is to contact your local recruiting station to ask for availability and times for practice ASVAB tests.
Many websites that offer practice tests offer short tests either from each section type or a small combination of questions, as well as full-length tests. These websites are available for free from anywhere that has an Internet connection. When using a workbook, keep in mind that purchasing from a bookstore gives you the freedom to take the tests with you anywhere and you can make notes in the book. A workbook from a library is likely to be labeled a resource, and resources are not available for check out. However, you can take the practice test in the library to mimic the testing environment.
Calculate your practice test scores to determine your possible category ranking or to give yourself an idea of areas that need improvement if there is a particular MOS you are interested in pursuing. A Category 1 score falls between 93 and 99, while a Category 5 is anything below 9 points. The armed forces do not accept Category 5 scores and only accept a small percentage of Category 4 scores. The score also indicates MOS positions suited to your skills.
