What Are Some Popular Scottish Names?

At the end of 2014, the National Records of Scotland released the most popular baby names of the year with Jack at number one for boys and Emily at number one for girls. James was the second most popular name for boys and Sophie was second for girls.

Lewis was the third most popular name for boys and Oliver was the fourth. The name Logan moved up from sixth in 2013 to fifth switching places with the name Daniel. Noah jumped up the list by six places to the seventh most popular boys name. Eight through 10 on the list are Charlie, Lucas and Alexander, respectively. The names Max, Adam, Callum, Aaron and Cameron gained popularity in 2014, as well.

Olivia was listed as the third most popular girl's name and Isla was the fourth. The name Jessica came up the list from 2013 by two places to number five, with Ava at number six, Amelia at number seven and Lucy at number eight. Lily broke into the top ten list in 2014 at number nine and Ella and Sophia tied for number 10. A few girl's names that did not make the top 10 list but made a huge leap in popularity are Grace, Freya, Layla, Eilidh and Anna.
