New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts are two popular film editing schools. Both schools offer graduate programs that teach students advanced film editing techniques.
The Tisch School of the Arts accepts a small number of graduate students each year who commit to a three-year course of study. Throughout this program, students work in teams to develop story lines and shoot and edit footage for at least five films.
The USC School of Cinematic Arts offers a Master of Fine Arts degree in film and television production. This three-year program includes a focus in aspects of film making, including picture and sound editing.
