"If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin' at all" and "A lie keeps growing and growing until it's as clear as the nose on your face" are much-quoted lines from Disney movies "Bambi" and "Pinocchio," respectively. In "Bambi," the little rabbit named Thumper announces that the new fawn doesn't "walk very good." His mother scolds him by asking him what his father has told him, to which he gives his famous reply.Continue Reading
In the 1940 animated movie "Pinocchio," the Blue Fairy gives her charge the timeless advice stated in the second quote above. Despite her warnings, the wooden boy had to learn the hard way not to be dishonest.
Another bit of wisdom found in a Disney movie quote is from the 1991 animated "Beauty and the Beast." The narrator tells the back story to the tale in which a prince is turned into a frightening beast when he refuses to give shelter to an old beggar woman because he does not like the way she looks. The narrator states, "But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within."
In the movie "Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin," Winnie the Pooh tells his friend Christopher Robin that the best time of the day is "When you and me become we." Christopher, knowing of Pooh's deep dependence upon him, replies, "You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
At one time, Disney primarily made hand-drawn animated films, but in recent decades it diversified into digital animation and more live action films and acquired popular movie franchises such as "Star Wars" and the Marvel Universe. These moves made Disney one of the most successful studios of all time.
Popular digital animated films, released through the Pixar division, include the "Toy Story" movies, "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," "A Bug's Life" and "Monsters Inc." Others include "Monsters University," "WALL-E," "Up" and "Inside Out."
Popular Marvel Universe films include "Guardians of the Galaxy," "The Avengers" and its sequels, the "Iron Man" films and "Ant-Man."
The Disney Princesses and their movies are also incredibly popular. Films featuring the princesses include "The Little Mermaid," "Tangled," "The Princess and the Frog" and "Brave." Others include "Mulan," "Frozen" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."
Disney made several live-action versions of some of its most popular animated films. Examples of these films include the 2015 release of "Cinderella," "Maleficent" and "Enchanted."Learn more about Education
