Advanced Nursing, Insurance for Health Care Professionals, Precalculus with Trigonometry, Principles of Leadership and Management, and Understanding and Teaching Geometry are some courses that Albany State University offers online, as of 2015. The school also offers complete online degree programs for select undergraduate and graduate disciplines.
Undergraduate programs include Bachelors of Science in fire services administration, business information systems and nursing. The school offers online Master of Science programs in criminal justice and nursing and Master of Education programs in early childhood education and special education.

Joseph Winthrop Holley, a son of former slaves, established the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute in 1903. The school joined the University System of Georgia in 1932 as Albany State College. The school adopted its current name in 1996 and is now a public four-year institution in Albany, Georgia.
