Nursys.com verifies a license specifically to a board of nursing so that you can obtain a new license in another state. You also can use the QuickConfirm function, which verifies nursing licensure status.

After clicking Get a License Verified, read the Nurse License Verification Terms & Conditions, and click Continue. You can verify a license by entering a name, state and license type, or you can search by license number, license type and the state whose board issued the license.

The QuickConfirm search process is identical, but not all state licensing boards participate in this option. The states that participate are listed in a drop-down menu on the search page by license number or name.

Each state board of nursing typically provides its own licensing verification service. The Texas Board of Nursing verifies six-month temporary permits, temporary licenses for licensed vocational nurses, registered nurses and advanced practiced registered nurses. Verifications are also available for graduate nurse and graduate vocational nurse permits.

State nursing board websites are usually linked to state government websites, such as the Arkansas State Board of Nursing website, which is located at Arkansas.gov, under Agencies.
