Penn Foster Career School, Universal Technical Institute and WyoTech are some motorcycle technician schools. City College of San Francisco and Western Iowa Tech Community College are two other motorcycle technician schools.
Students can earn a motorcycle repair technician diploma at Penn Foster Career School in as little as three months. Students learn about brakes, inspections and ignitions. They get to train at home at a pace that is comfortable for them. Program participants also receive discounts on supplies and tools.
At Universal Technical Institute, students learn engine troubleshooting and performance testing on several brands. Students also have the opportunity to learn about personal watercraft, generators and snowmobiles. In addition, the school offers soft skill training to help participants polish their professionalism.
WyoTech trains students to service and repair bikes. Students gain hands-on experience and learn the skills they need to pursue careers as dealership motorcycle technicians, specialty shop motorcycle technicians or performance shop technicians. Students have to take eight core courses, and then they can choose an area of concentration.
City College of San Francisco prepares students to work on various types of motorcycles. To obtain a degree, students must complete 34 units of technical training and satisfy the school’s general education coursework requirements.
At Western Iowa Tech Community College, students learn how to repair and maintain motorcycles. Students also learn how to work on transmissions, brakes and ignition systems. Program participants have to take courses including fundamentals of small engines and motorcycle electrical systems.
