Max Lucado is an exceptionally prolific author, having published more than 30 books since 1985. In addition to his work as an author, Lucado has spent his life preaching and working as a pastor at the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. Many of his published works are developed from his sermons and experiences preaching in Oak Hills Church. Lucado's daily devotionals are short selections that are designed to serve as a guide for meditating on the life of Christ. They are posted daily on his website as both written selections and audio files that can be listened to.

Lucado lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife Denalyn. He recieved his undergraduate in Mass Communications and a Masters degree in Biblical and Related Studies from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. In 2007, Lucado stepped down from his leading position at Oak Hills Church because of health problems related to atrial fibrillation. Since then, he has continued in a more limited role by continuing to write and preach.
