Typing 1,500 words typically results in 3.3 pages of text. This includes 1-inch margins, 12-point basic Arial font, single spaces between lines and a page size of 8.5 inches by 11 inches. With the same font, page size and margin specifications, a 1,500-word document double-spaced is 6.6 pages.
Making the margins bigger or smaller than 1 inch potentially increases or decreases the number of pages, respectively. The font size and style also affect the page length. Because of the stylistic differences between fonts, there is sometimes quite a bit of variance in how much space they use. The size of each letter and the space between letters, known as kerning, are not the same in each font.
Times New Roman and Arial are the most common standard font for academic essays and letters. Online, these fonts are also fairly standard and generally default to 12-point size.
