Prior to 1924, LSU played its home football games at State Field located on the old LSU campus in downtown Baton Rouge. Tiger Stadium opened in 1924 with a capacity of 12,000. As of 2014, renovations brought the stadiums capacity to 102,321. It is the third-largest college football stadium in the South East Conference and the ninth largest stadium in the world. The stadium has a raucous game-day atmosphere that makes it difficult for an opposing team to play well.
