Of the top 100 girls' names of 2000, the bottom ten were Cassandra, Cheyenne, Gabriella, Katie, Leah, Molly, Isabel, Mia, Sabrina, Alexandria and Leslie. Some of these names rose in position from 1999, especially Mia which went up 27 places.
Other names that rose in popularity from 1999 to 2000 were Jada (up 27 places), Zoe (up 22 places), Trinity (up 135 places) and Chloe (up 25 places). Names that decreased in ranking significantly from 1999 to 2000 were Courtney (down 15 places), Brittany (down 26 places), Kelsey (down 16 places), Cheyenne (down 15 places) and Cassandra (down 13 places.)
Some girls' names remained consistently popular throughout the decade of 2000 to 2009. These names include Emily, Madison, Emma, Olivia and Hannah. While Emma (rank 17 in 2000) and Olivia (rank 16 in 2000) were not at the top of the list in 2000, they were numbers 3 and 4 on the most popular list for 2000 to 2009, respectively.
