Full Answer

In order to have access to the Kindle Lending Library a person must meet two requirements: Purchase an Amazon Kindle product, either an E Ink version or a Fire version, and subscribe to the Amazon Prime membership program, which carries a yearly fee. Amazon Prime membership has other benefits, including free two-day shipping and free streaming privileges of certain movies and music from Amazon.com.

Kindle E Ink device owners access the Lending Library by going to the Kindle Store, clicking All Categories, scrolling down to the Kindle Owners' Lending Library selection and browsing for listings that have the Prime symbol. Kindle Fire device owners access the Lending Library by clicking the Fire bookstore icon and browsing for listings that have the Prime symbol. As long as the owner's Amazon Prime account is associated with the Kindle device, then these listings display a Borrow for Free button next to or under the price button.
