One interesting fact about Villa Rica high school is that its football team is known as the Villa Rica Wildcats. The team won the Georgia state football championship in 1986 and boasts several notable alumni, including Everette Hickman, Pop Johnson and Pooh Cox.
While Villa Rica high school maintains both a baseball and basketball team, football remains the most popular and prominent athletic sport. Several players have been recognized with All-State and All-Area awards. In 1998, the football team went 10-0 during their regular season. Harold "Cotton" Meeks graduated from the school in 1954 and would later play under Coach Sam MacIntyre.
