The Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business is a dual-degree program in International Studies and Economics administered by the University of Pennsylvania. Graduates receive bachelor's degrees in both subjects.
The program is distinctive in that it offers the possibility of obtaining two bachelor's degrees in only four years of coursework. The program emphasizes learning a particular foreign language and culture mixed with business skills and a general liberal arts curriculum.
Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish are the only languages approved for the program.
Aside from "excellent" academic credentials, the program encourages prospective applicants to have intermediate-level proficiency in their foreign language of choice before applying. The program conducts its own language test as a part of the entry application. Academic and extracurricular activities emphasizing leadership are also recommended.
If accepted to the program, students must live in the Kings Court College House on campus during their freshman year. Students are free to live where they like after the first year. The program offers special facilities at 3732 Locust Walk for its members as well as a limited number of summer study grants for improving skill in the target language. Students also get an adviser dedicated solely to those in the program.
