Most students admitted to New York University have at least a 3.4 GPA as of 2014. NYU uses a holistic admissions process though, which means the admissions committee looks at a candidate's GPA, test scores and individual story.
A 3.6 GPA in combination with strong ACT and SAT test scores creates the most optimistic chances for admission. While students get in with lower GPAs, it typically takes especially strong test scores and intriguing personal factors to get in with a GPA below 3.6. The "safe" ACT score to feel confident in admission is 27, and the "safe" SAT score is 1900.
