The Department of Defense libraries provides free online study guides for the AFAST. The AFAST has been replaced with the SIFT examination, however. Study guides for SIFT are also available through the site for military members, and there are other websites that also have study materials for both.
AFAST stands for Army Alternate Flight Aptitude Selection Test. SIFT stands for Selection Instrument for Flight Training Test. SIFT is a computer-based examination that assesses personality characteristics of would-be aviators to determine if they have the ability to be good aviators. The scores on the SIFT test are compared with scores obtained by career aviators. SIFT has been used by the Army since 2012.
