Columbia University, Northwestern University, Vanderbilt University and Johns Hopkins University also have highly regarded music education programs.

In addition to the Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in music education, the school offers Master of Science and doctorate of science degrees in curriculum and instruction, each with a focus on music education.
The music education program at the State University of New York at Fredonia is one of the most highly rated in the United States. In addition to academic classes, students receive intensive training on their instrument of choice and undergo rigorous student-teaching assignments through which they work with certified teachers in a real classroom setting.
