Fun games for ESL learners include "Call My Bluff" and "The Mime." These games are appropriate for both adult and children learners in classroom environments.
"Call My Bluff" is a good ice-breaker game and is used to improve speaking skills. Have each student write three statements about themselves. One statement is true, but the rest are false. The other students must distinguish the truth from the lies.
"The Mime" is a great game for getting students to practice their verbs and tenses. Before class starts, write several actions on pieces of paper and place them in a bag. Split the class into two teams and have one student from each team come to the front and act out an action. The first team to shout out the correct action gets the point.
